Spring Cleanups & Why is it Important?

 Your yard has been hit hard by the winter, just like people, it needs a spa day! Spring cleanups help remove the leaves and dead grass left over by the winter and helps remove the snow mold from your yard 

• Proper Mowing: Our professional mowing team will keep your lawn mowed at about 2 inches to ensure that it still gets the important sun, water and oxygen it needs to thrive.
• Aeration: Aerating your lawn will allow easy access for air and water to reach the roots of your grass. This will help your grass grow quicker, thicker and will give it the boost it needs to start off the growing season!
• Weeding, Flower & Tree Pruning:  You'll want to pull your annuals and cut back your perennials to ensure they are healthy and get the proper care before they start to grow and remove all the dead weeds to make sure nothing stops your plants from growing healthy.
• Raking Leaves: If leaves are allowed to remain on the ground, they will choke off the grass by reducing water evaporation. Plus, they can harbor mold and fungus, while also allowing insects to infiltrate the grass and ground. In some cases, diseases from the trees can also be transferred to the ground and grass roots, which can kill your lawn (Fairy Rings)
• Dethatching: Thatch is combination of dead grass and leaf clippings. This can cause real problems if left untreated. Be sure that your lawn maintenance crew is dethatching to give your grass a good chance of thriving. Our crew does this and mowing at the same time, we have special dethatching blades that we use on our lawn mowers that cut the grass and bags all the thatching that is laying on your grass.
• Fertilize & Overseed: One of the last things on the list is to make sure your lawn is fertilized with the proper spring fertilizer  This will give your grass the nutrients it needs to grow thick and healthy! Overseeding & fertilizing your lawn before the hot summer gets to it will help your lawn grow thicker and will make it more resilient to droughts.
